| My naked nails, stained... |
Sometimes I like to wear sheers but my yellow tips show through and they look, gross. Well, I tried Color Club's Milky White base coat and its not too bad. If your nails are white it will make them really white. Mine are yellow at the tips and white at the tops, so at the tips the effect is lessened, but overall its an improvement. Also, the whitening effect is way more apparent in sunlight than it is indoors.
Below is a demo of how Milky White looks against a bare nail and under Deborah Lippmann's Baby Love, a sheer pink.

I bought my Milky White base coat on eBay for around $4, $2 for domestic shipping.
i have a question... so the base coat is really to help make yellow nails less visible when the polish is sheer... or is it like a primer for makeup--to make the nail bed smoother?

Deleteno it's not you. i'm really not really informed with nail things. I actually have a primer that i havent tried out. i was first weirded out why it had a milky color, so i guess thats why. :D
DeleteWow! It IS an improvement! Under that DL the change was amazing, really visible! That might be a great solution for a bunch of us!
ReplyDeleteWhat annoys me is that sometimes my nails are not yellow but sort of purple or greenish... due to the staining of my beloved blues. Even after a base coat. It might not be working properly? But frankly, I don't care about that because they are going to be covered anyways!
This base is interesting though, because nudes don't cover imperfect nail color! :)
I agree. I don't wear this base coat all the time, just under sheers.

ReplyDeleteI definitely need this! I was using Butter London's Foundation, but it's almost empty and it costs $18! This looks like a cheaper alternative! Must check it out asap :D

ReplyDeletei love how it looks with the DL polish. i have problems with staining too, and it really sucks when i wanna rock my jellies cause it looks like theres a gradient (even though it's just the gradual staining of my nails, lol!)
ReplyDeleteThis is so perfect- I really need to pick one of these up. I sometimes love sheers, but can never really wear them because of staining. I think Scrangie recommended this one once, too. Really gotta pick this up!
