Top 10 of 2012

Better late than never, a chance to look back.....here's my top 10 favorite manicures for 2012. This was not easy, I was so indecisive that I almost decided not to do this list.

1. Revlon Royal

Why?  It's a jelly, it's blue and the color just makes my heart stop.

2. OPI Every Month is Oktoberfest

This broke me down, and I stopped boycotting OPI partly because of this color.  Kind of a big deal.
Love the Germany Collection, BTW.

3. Revlon's Barebones with Brownstone
Barebones gets the most internet traffic on my blog. So here it is with China Glaze's Brownstone. Loved this manicure, I wore it twice to work!

4. CQ Vintage with Confetti - Tasmanian Devil
This neutral is just dreamy and pretty unique.  On pinterest, a few people have pinned this one.  My storage display has the most pins by far.

5. Revlon's Red Bikini by Gucci Westman
This was surprisingly a very flattering red.  I really like how bold and bright this one is. I got a ton of compliments on this, and lots and lots of traffic.

6. China Glaze - Ruby Pumps with Techno.
Two glitters every girl must have!  I got the most enthusiastic comments on this layering.

7. China Glaze - Desert Sun
I've worn this twice.  This is another unique color.  I just love staring at it.

8. Nina Ultra Pro's Burnished Bronze
Super underrated, Nina's, Burnished Bronze is one of the best in their catalog.  A versatile, sophisticated orange.

9. OPI Care to Danse
I've worn this like five times!!!  Super for work.  Sheer, clean and a nice, unique alternative to a sheer nude, pink or white.  This is sandwich-ing Nubar's White Polka Dot glitter.

10. Sinful Colors Leap Flog
I love this color, it made the top ten because I got so many compliments at work on this polish.

I left out so many good ones.... 2012 was a great year for polish.  Everywhere I go the polish racks are half empty messes.  What will captivate us in 2013?

Sinful Colors - 960 Envy

In my last post Kumi commented that she was in search of the right emerald green, since that is the color of 2013, according to Pantone.  Hmmm.... she had me thinking, what does my green stash look like?  My green collection is pretty small about 13 bottles, not including glitters, or teals.  Well I thought I'm going to try and swatch my green collection for the month of January.  I've already done some of them just click "green" under tags and they will come up.

Today I decided to start with Sinful's Envy which came out just this fall, it looks close to the Pantone emerald... but I don't have a chip so I can't do an exact comparison. Pantone's emerald looks a bit pale to me. I think of a more deeper and darker green when I think of emerald.  Go to Pantone.com and see what you think?  Below is two coats; really nice forumla from Sinful.

OPI Don't Talk Bach To Me

Happy 2013! - Hopefully....

I'm starting the year with an off-beat color, pale yellow leaning green - OPI, Don't talk Bach to me. This is really a pretty soft Dijon mustard color with a slight silver shimmer.  I paired it with Nubar's white polka dot glitter.

I decided to compare DTBTM with ChG's Trendsetter, from last fall's Metro Collection.  Trendsetter is one shade darker, richer and has a stronger shimmer effect than DTBTM.

For fun, I dug around in my fridge for some mustard.  See if you agree, they are pretty close analogies.

Looking at these are really making me hungry, especially the Maille mustard.  I'm going to go find a pretzel and I'll see you guys soon!

Revlon Ruby Ribbon

Hey there!  Merry Christmas!

I know I have been totally out of touch, but I've been working like a mad dog at work and I've been too tired to post.  I haven't even done any Christmas shopping, and only two days till Christmas... oh well, it was kind of like this last year too.

Anyhow.   Today, I have a matte suede polish to show you called Ruby Ribbon, #863, by Revlon.  I bought this last year and it sat in my untried pile till now.... crazy.  Below is two coats with no top coat and it dries pretty fast.

The glitter is China Glaze's Party Hearty, from Christmas 2011.   Ruby Ribbon, its a deep, deep ruby color with some silver shimmer in it....sometimes the shimmer kind of makes it look dusty.

Above is with a shiny top coat - Revlon's quick dry.  I think I like it better shiny.

It's okay... not too exciting.

Well, that's it for now.  I somehow have to get back into the swing of things here in nail polish world.

Jessica - Crocodile Crackle

Tonight I have a cool croc-crackle polish to show you from Jessica.  This is called Brown Croc and it is one coat over a sheer called Beautiful.  The two polishes come together as a kit, I found this at Marshalls. 

Above is my left hand and has one THICK coat of brown croc which makes the cracks bigger/wider.

Now here is my right hand with one THIN coat.  This to me looks more crocodile like.  I know I have major tip wear here.  I wore this for three days.  I normally take photos right after painting but lately I've been lazy... and totally thrown off schedule.

The instructions say to wait for the first color to dry before applying the crackle polish...which I did.  I don't know what would happen if you didn't wait... and I noticed this took a bit longer to crack than regular crackle polish too.  When I started to wonder if I got a bad bottle, it started cracking..... cool huh?

Essence - #116 Gorgeous Bling Bling

Hey there!  Long time, no read!

I apologize for missing in action.  I will explain at the end of this post, but first I have a simple work mani to show you, a nice terracotta with gold flakies from Essence.  This one is called Gorgeous Bling Bling.... below is two easy coats.  I thought this was a nice polish, it stood out in a sea of reds, pinks and neutral nail polishes, yet, is tasteful/respectful.

I got my 8 ml bottle for $1.99 at Ulta.

My husband's mother passed away, in her home, and on her own terms on November 16th. I wasn't going to say anything but decided maybe I should since she let me do a post on her nails last year.  So we travelled down to Florida for her funeral and my husband and I stayed down there for Thanksgiving as well.  Needless to say, I was on the road for two and half days and had spotty internet along with a hectic schedule so... that is where I have been.  Although we are all saddened by her death she is in a better place.

Sinful Colors - Savage

Hey there!

I have a quick swatch to show you for this weekend.  Savage by Sinful Colors reminds of those polishes that have a rubber-matte like finish.  I didn't have any issues applying this, and the blue is quite bright.  I'm not sure if Sinful intended the finish to dry this way.  Maybe it does dry flat, because is leans neon and some neons dry flat.  Here it is two coats.

I did not add a top coat because I ended up adding an indie glitter on top, called Sea Monster by Priate Polish.  Click here for that post.

If you like mattes, a matte top coat would probably even out the paint.
