Y: Yellow, Bananarama Love, L'Oreal

Hey guys!

For letter "Y", I chose a color I don't wear very often.  I can't say I don't like yellow, I just find it a bit hard to wear.  I used to say that about green, but now, I stick my foot in my mouth. I wear green polish quite often.

L'Oreal has released a few jelly polishes, or they call it "Gellies" for this summer. Here is one of them, Bananarama Love, from Miss Candy collection.

This is three coats, with INM out the door top coat.  Formula was sheer, but really smooth and even. Easy to apply.

So weird looking, but the color is growing on me.

What do you think?

OPI Don't Talk Bach To Me

Happy 2013! - Hopefully....

I'm starting the year with an off-beat color, pale yellow leaning green - OPI, Don't talk Bach to me. This is really a pretty soft Dijon mustard color with a slight silver shimmer.  I paired it with Nubar's white polka dot glitter.

I decided to compare DTBTM with ChG's Trendsetter, from last fall's Metro Collection.  Trendsetter is one shade darker, richer and has a stronger shimmer effect than DTBTM.

For fun, I dug around in my fridge for some mustard.  See if you agree, they are pretty close analogies.

Looking at these are really making me hungry, especially the Maille mustard.  I'm going to go find a pretzel and I'll see you guys soon!

Jim Gaffigan Nails

What? You ask?  I know, this is a lost reference, but I'll explain.

For those of you who don't know who Jim Gaffigan is, he is a comedian who recently released the long awaited "Mr. Universe".  Mr. Universe was filmed recently at the Warner theatre here in D.C. and the backdrop inspired this week's nails.   Gaffigan does a lot of jokes on eating junk food, being lazy and religion.  If your in the mood for comedy, any of Gaffigan's materials will have you LYAO!

Does this look like anything to you?  My husband had no idea what this mani was about.  His first reaction was, "What is that?"

I told him, "It's my Jim Gaffigan nails."

"How is that Jim Gaffigan?"

I reply, "It's the spotlights and the curtains.".....  Oh well, failed nail art I guess.

This took me three and half hours to do, with all the dry time.  I used tape to make the spotlights.  Sinful Colors, Black on Black is the background, and Diana Manicure 1715, 1716 for the blue and yellow, and Funky Fingers blue and purple glitter.  I do have to say Sinful colors, Black on Black is a really nice black to own.  It is a true black with a very nice precise formula.  Not too thick not too thin and was a breeze to apply.  Lots of bang for you buck.  I got it during their 99 cent sale at Walgreens.

Below is a clip from Jim's latest show.  There is a ton of his old material for free on youtube.  I paid the $5 to watch Mr. Universe and it was money well spent!  Very entertaining.
See the lights in the background?

Deborah Lippmann - Do ya Think I'm Sexy?

Hey there!

I've had this Lippmann glitter for months and I didn't know what to do with it... until now.  Do ya Think I'm Sexy is a clear polish with simple red hex glitter.  Below is one coat over Diana Manicure 1715, a chartreuse shimmer.

I thought it was so-so.  .............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz  I know, I'm sorry....  I'm sure there's much better use for this wonderful, simple Lippmann glitter right?

Prorance Diana Manicure #1715

Hey polish maniacs!

Today's post features a shimmery chartreuse from Diana Manicure, a Korean brand whose parent company is Prorance.  I don't know the official name of this color but it is numbered 1715.  Below is three coats.

I don't own very many colors in the yellow green family, so this turned out to be a good excercise in trying something new and loving it.  1715 is definitely a summer appropriate color.  Most shimmers I find, are easy to apply and this one follows suit.

This was a gift from Kumiko Mae, a fellow blogger, at Loving Sunshine, but I was able to find this on eBay, shipping from Seoul.

I did a post on Diana Manicure 1716 yesterday.  In case you missed it click here.

Happy viewing!  Please feel free to shamelessly promote your blog in the comments section below.

China Glaze Trendsetter w/ Northern Lights TC. Welcome to my first post!

Hello out there!

Here is my first post!  China Glaze Trendsetter from the Fall 2011 metro collection.  I was skeptical about this weird color, but I thought I would give it a try and I ended up loving it!  It is rather soft, yellow/green at times.  It is shimmery in the bottle, and has a metallic/foil base, but on the nail it ends up looking like a Corian countertop, which can be kind of dull.  China Glaze fastforward top coat adds a nice shine.  The pictures are  taken after 5 days! Very little tip wear, no chips.  Fabulous, smooth, easy to apply formula.

I added INM northern lights top coat after day 4 because I started to get bored with the color, which added a nice subtle sparkle.

What I used: China Glaze strong adhesion base coat, 2 coats CG Trendsetter, 1 coat CG fastforward top coat, 1 coat INM nothern lights silver top coat.
