Barielle Misbehaving Mistress

Hey out there on a quiet Sunday night!

I have a simple swatch/work mani to show you today - Barielle's Misbehaving Mistress, from Fall 2008.  I found this medium, taupe, with subtle, silver shimmer, gem-of-a-polish at Marshalls last week for $2.99... This is my first bottle of Barielle.  I don't know where to buy these offline, anymore.  Ulta use to be the only place I knew of, but they replaced them with Zoyas.  Now its just transdesign.com... who is having a sale on their Barielle multi-packs, BTW.

Anyhow, the formula on this is really nice too; two coats, no issues.

I used Nina Ultra Pro's quick dry top coat for this mani for the first time.  Just recently they changed their font, bottles and brushes.  I like the new packaging but the new brushes are huge!  Double barrelled, wide and soft.  See the picture above?  I don't know if people are going to like this....

This is just a preliminary review because I've only tried this top coat once.  Nina's top coat does dry fast, 2 minutes to touch but I had some major shrinkage, noticeable at the tips after three hours.  (I do wrap my tips).  Shine was okay, but after 12 hours the shine started to fade.

Well, that's it for now, TTFN!

  2. Very nice colour - I like that's is off the beaten track of "work safe" polishes (nudes etc)

  3. That is a classy color, and perfect for this season. Looks great on you, and shorter nails suit you a lot also :)

I hate that shrinkage, SV does it sometimes too. It's like: I spend some minutes doing everything perfect and there comes SV and destroys it all. I can't stop staring at it after I see it for the first time, and I usually re-do the whole thing. Sometimes it happens, and sometimes it doesn't. I don't know on what this depends..?

Well I am looking forward to a deeper review of that top coat :) First facts don't look very encuraging though!

    1. Thanks M.! I love shorter nails, more comfortable and my polish lasts longer.

Oh SV, really good for creme polishes. When the bottle is fresh there's less shrinkage. SV bad for foils, bad for jellies.

I'm behind on reviews, they are labor intensive!

  5. I tried one of the new Nina Ultra Pros yesterday for the first time and I am not a fan of that new brush. It's crazy wide, and I have big hands so can only imagine how unwieldy it'll be for most ladies.

  7. Oh man, I might have to start collecting Barielles now. How do you think this compares to Illamasqua- Bacterium?

    1. Oooooh, Bacterium, (I've been tempted to buy that one, but at $14?), it looks like Misbehaving Mistress is darker and less frosty than Bacterium.
