CrowsToes - I Make The Path

My first glitter indie!

Boy, I Make the Path is jammed packed with glitter! I mean jammed-packed.  When I first opened my bottle it was literally, filled to the brim with polish and glitter.  I think it needs more clear base because the glitters go on in a clumpy fashion and it is hard to move them around.  After this use, I had some room to add thinner and clear base to my bottle.

The glitter combo is very pretty though.  I reminds me of fancy tile work at the bottom of a pool.  Here it is layered over two coats of Zoya's Dove.  Have a look-sie!

See the texture?  This is after two coats of top coat!

Right hand.

Left hand.
Crows Toes state that their polishes contain "un-cut" suspension base, whatever that means....I used two coats of Seche Vite and I can still feel the glitters.  So I Make the Path qualifies as a top coat eater.

Below you can see in the bottle how packed the glitters are.  When I turn the bottle upside down the glitters don't even move around.  Certainly can't say they were being stingy.  The holographic gold glitters sparkle like crazy and the pearl glitters nicely balance out shiny blue and gold.

Macro of the bottle.

Crows Toes is available at shop.Llarowe.com for $14 each, around $3 for domestic US shipping.  Kind of pricey for sloppy customer service.  I ordered Gomez and I Make the Path together on July 29 and I got IMP on Aug 11, I am still waiting for Gomez which is on back order.  I did call Llarowe, and emailed them, both with no response, no return call.   Just this Monday, I got an apologetic mass email from Llarowe saying that they had been on vacation, some of their staff have been sick and their Crows Toes shipment arrived damaged so they are waiting for replacements. ....  Jeeze...  I have patience and sympathy... but I think some kind of announcement on their website saying that there are long wait times for polish and responding to customer inquires would be nice.

I don't know.  I understand they are a small business and all, but what do you think about taking orders on items you don't have in stock and making customers wait with no explanation?  Is this acceptable?  What has your experience been with internet businesses?

  2. Gorgeous glitter mani! I find that using Gelous and then using SV has helped a TON in smoothing out the glitter bombs such as this. Sorry to hear that your polishes are taking so long to get to you. I have a lot of patience too, but I would be really irritated if my polishes took that long to arrive. It probably wasn't a good idea to take on so many new indie polishes at the same time if she couldn't handle the massive amount of orders. Hope Gomez gets to you soon!

  3. Òhhh Jenni, this glitter is sooooo nice ^^ Sad the costumer service sucks that much though, it's not really encouraging..! But hey, the fact that the bottle was really full is a great point in their favor, that does not happen always!

PS: many many thanks for the tutorial link! You're sweet! :D I hope to master it sometime :) But for now I'll just try to make one polish braid just fine. I'll update you on that!

  4. This is gorgeous! I'm adding this to my wishlist!

I have been following Llarowe on facebook and by email for a while. She has said that she is hiring someone to create a website for her that will solve the out-of-stock and other problems. I feel that for small businesses such as Llarowe and some indie polish sellers that the long wait time should be expected since they are a VERY small business. In the case of Llarowe, expect possible custom delays because some brands she sells are not from the US. I don't mind the wait as long as I receive what I ordered.

By the way, I think Llarowe usually responds to customers' e-mail. I do think that it was her fault for not having trained her workers properly though.

  5. wow this looks AWESOME!!! im trying so hard not to fall for indies because i know my stash would explode lol!

hmm that sounds pretty sketchy.. i mean, i haven't heard anything bad about that site since they're still going strong, but i feel like businesses should be organized and orderly. you should receive your order within a reasonable time if they're holding your money, or else it seems like a recipe for lost/forgotten orders and disasters to me!

    1. GREAT POINT! HOLDING MONEY! I don't mind being on a waitlist just charge me when the item ships. That's fair.

    1. Yeah, this is one of those unlucky things that keep happening to me. It's minor really, in the big scheme of things. Thanks for doing the Liebster, I loved your answers. :)

  9. Gorgeous! Maybe you should try a thicker topcoat first before you apply Seche Vite, because Seche gives a bit of shrinking ):
