C: Cho, Zoya

Howdy!  This is going to be a jammed packed post today, so hold on tight.

First, for the ABC challenge; C: for Cho by Zoya... I want to say heeerrreee's Margaret Cho (the comedienne).... that's who I think about when I see this polish.  Anyways, Cho is a warm neutral... yellowish khaki, with a very subtle silver shimmer. It goes on like a pastel, uneven and tacky, which requires a bit of patience. The results are nice and calming, here is two coats.

On to a bunch of things to show you today. If you remember in an earlier post, I mentioned I hated my wedding band.... love my engagement ring though. Here they are.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, or from the "less is more" camp, but I don't really like to wear rings with flashy nail polish. So sometimes I will wear rings when I wear a nice neutral polish, like Cho.

My wedding band is not attractive when worn alone, that's basically why I don't like it.

Also, below is what I got at the big Zoya sale a couple of weeks ago, 3 polishes for $10 with shipping. DEAL!

I got Pasha, Wednesday, and Cho, (left to right).  The polishes came in this nice box and they sent me a color chart which is really cool. I love color charts, they are like eye candy.

Lastly, home improvement.... The latest project I'm working on is renovating my master bedroom. I think the best way to present this is to post a picture as the project unfolds. At the beginning.....

This is the view from the door looking in.

This is the view with my back facing the window... there's a peek at my bathroom.

So this room is 17 feet by 12 feet. Lavender leaning periwinkle color the walls (sigh), what can I say? They were not my choice, painted by the previous owner, and to my dismay I lived with this for nearly nine years!  Jeeze, almost a decade! I guess it was possible to live like this because my eyes were shut most of the time and I'm too tired from work to deal with it. So, who cares, just go to bed. The cream colored carpets are stained and worn out from us, my clumsy husband spilling drinks, coffee and what not, cats and dogs. Mainly dogs. I had an Italian greyhound who passed away in late 2009 of kidney failure and he vomited a few times on this carpet. I've tried to scrub up the bile but... I know I'm totally grossing you out now.

To add to the negative aspects, this room is dark too, the window faces west and somewhat north. So, it going to be light, neutral walls in here. Maybe even white. I know white can be boring, but lots of people have been doing jewel tones. Moreover, its a bedroom and I need a break, a palate cleanser. I hate red dining rooms! I hate purple walls! I'm tired of khaki and tan. I did the spare bedroom in blue, so no blue.

The bay window with the horrible cushioned "seating" area..."how romantic", NOT! Everyone says that when they see this room. "Oh a bay window, the seated storage area... how nice!" NO, no, no, NO!!! This "romantic seated bench" is going to the dump, where it belongs. It is not efficient use of space, it is inconvenient, uncomfortable and no one wants to sit on it. I used to store bed linens and blankets in that "hole" but they would just get lost and forgotten about. It was a messy way to store things. When I needed to change my bed linens, I had to remove all the cushions and lift up the top. Then while digging around, I had to hold up the heavy lid with one hand, which only left me one other hand and arm to reach down and find what I needed.  UGH!  A really bad and ill conceived idea. Thankfully, I did not build it, it was not my idea.  Don't ever build a bench like this, you'll regret it.

What's the plan for this room? A neutral palette, new furniture and hardwood floors. Next we demolition the storage bench. It gets much worse before it gets any better. Stay tuned!

  1. Beautiful neutral polish! I love a good neutral lately, although Cho would probably be too yellow for my skintone.

I'm eager to see how your room turns out! Make sure you share it. :) I have to say the bay window looks absolutely gorgeous in the picture, but I can see where it would be uncomfortable, is it just a foam cushion on top of the wood?

    1. I will, I'll post pictures with every nail polish post. Yeah it's a foam cushion, and the lid is wood, pine I think. And yes Cho is a bit yellow, I didn't realize it until I put it on. I'm going to look for one that's a bit dialed down on the yellow. Thanks!

  3. Beautiful polish! Goes great with your skin tone :)

Can't wait to see what you'll do with your bedroom. I love to see what people can come up with :)

  4. D'uh, I am awfully sorry but this color is totally out of my alley! I don't even like it "in abstract". I'd need more pink or more white...

BUT I love your wedding band and your wedding ring. Both of them would looks great alone, and together they are just stunning. I wouldn't mind at all wearing it with brights, they are neutral and delicate, and I would think it's practical because they can go with everything!

Also your bedroom project is exciting! I liked that bench but it seems unpractical, yeah! I'd be tired of that lilac color also. My walls are green and I dislike them a lot. Previous owned had such a bad taste! But I am too lazy to change it, plus the place is not even mine so... why bother? I actually see my home so little that I wonder why I need it that big. A drawer would suffice, haha!

    1. Yes, I do have to say, I do like CQ Vintage more so than Cho, it leans pink.
The wedding rings, I did chose ones that would stand the test of time and be versatile, but... I think the wedding band is too small too. Can you have more than one? LOL!

Yes drawers are the way to go! I move all my linens to a dresser drawers and it makes life much easier. It's funny to see that everyone likes that bench!

  5. Cho is sooo pretty! And yeah, it always makes me think of Margaret too. ;) I've picked it up a few times but kept wondering what the formula would be like, but...smeesh, even if it's a difficult one, it's just so beautiful!

I think a window seat like that could be awesome if the storage was open, like a little bookshelf where you could easily reach stuff without having to move the whole seat, but I agree it's not the best use of space. Looking forward to seeing what you guys do with it! ^_^

  6. I love this colour! I love this colour even for furnitures, clothes, everything! In fact I do love the curtains in that first picture, and the bottom lines in the room. It's a shame to have a dark room, I know I have to fight with light in some rooms myself. I am super curious to see what your result will be!

  9. Jenni your bedroom looks so lovely as is! I love the generous window and the sunlight that you can bask in, in the morning or in a lovely afternoon!

As for the polish, im afraid i fear that kind of shade because I feel like it will make my skin look yellowish? It looks nice on yours though!

    1. Hi Kumi! It does get afternoon light. I think if you saw the room in person, you would see it needs repairs, but thank you!

  10. I ordered Cho from Zoya, too, but I haven't received my order yet because I had also ordered some of the pixie dust collection. I agree with you about that window seat; a nice comfy chair and some gorgeous potted plants would make that a great little reading spot! The lavender walls scream cabbage roses to me, too. Good luck on your remodel!

    1. LOL! I think there are some cabbage roses on the seat cushion! :D We may put a chair or loveseat there, so we're thinking along the same lines. I'm planning to order the pixie dust collection too! Thanks Adria!

  11. This totally makes me want to remodel my house now!! Zoya isn't readily available in Canada and I'm too impatient to wait for polish through the mail, so I'm always envious of those who have Zoyas!!

    1. I prefer to buy polish in stores too. If Zoya exported I'm sure they would make a ton of money. :)

  14. I love Zoya, but I have only a few polishes of this brand, they're really expensive here in Italy and it's HTF also on line... I'm so jealous about the big sales they did on their website! :D
