Essence Twilight Breaking Dawn - Alice.....

I'm not into vampire movies or shows, but I do like a good vampy polish and I do like Essence.  I got this bottle in a swap with Criminal Nails! Special editions from Essence are released in such limited amounts in the US, that I was really excited to get this in the mail.  I did a quick swatch of number 02 Alice Had a Vision - Again.  Alice is a purple jelly with purple and green micro glitter.  Two super easy coats and it is dark yet sparkly!

I wish I knew who Alice is but I don't. I did try to watch Twilight when it first came out but I was so bored I couldn't make it through the first half.... sorry Twilight fans out there..... I have to say the only vampire movie that I really enjoyed was Interview with the Vampire, with Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and the very young Kirsten Dunst.

Well, here is how the bedroom is coming along.  We cleaned all the walls and the ceiling.  Then repaired all the holes and dings (there were a lot) with joint compound, sanded and painted one coat of primer.  Whew!  It was a lot of work just getting this far.  This took three days.  What took so long?  Repairing walls is just like icing a cake and painting nails, it takes two coats of joint compound for a smooth finish after sanding.  I never knew this before and found out by watching some videos on the internet.  I used to only apply one coat of compound, sand then prime.  Instead, this time one coat, wait 24 hours, the apply the second coat, wait 24 hours, then sand, then prime. It makes all the difference in the world!

After primer.
Painting the ceiling.  Look how gray and dingy!
If you just tuned in and want to see before pics just click back one post.

That's what I have so far.  See you Wednesday when we do letter D!

  1. I picked up two from this collection - this one and Jacob's Protection and I love them both! This colour looks amazing on you, I the purple shimmer. And that is great progress on your bedroom - I can't wait to see the finished product :)

  2. Yaaaay! :D It looks fantastic on you! So dark and at the same time so sparkling!

Wow, I don't want to think about how your arms feel right now, after all that work!

Oh, and about vampire movies... I loved Interview with the Vampire and Dracula, the classic one. Twilight is just so sugar coated... OMG. The books were entertaining and nice, but the movies just suck IMHO.

    1. Yeah, I didn't read the books either, just couldn't get on board for some reason.

  3. Such a pretty sparkly deep vampy purple! You're definitely not missing anything by not watching the 'Twilight Saga'. I alternately felt like laughing and like I was some kind of pedophile whilst watching the films. The whole series is squicky--it's a teenaged romance written in the language of a 10 year old. Don't even get me started on its most famous fanfic, 50 Shades of Grey (that's going to be a movie, too. >_<)!

That's a lot of work but it already looks so much better! I can't wait to see the evolution of your master bedroom!

    1. Hmmm, teenage romance with 10 year old language... that's bad. LOL! My husband said it was odd watching the werewolf guy b/c he's buff and shirtless all the time, but has the face of a baby! So I can see your point. Jeeze I shook my head too when I heard 50 Shades of Grey was going to be a movie too. Junk sells. I think it's like a pile of Penthouse Forum for women... such a shame, to fill our brains with junk.
